Love From Your Pastor

Hi FBC Friends!

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 2 Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. 3 And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure. (1 John 3:1-3 ESV)
Isn’t that amazing?!  How incredible to think that we can be called God’s children.  Wow.  The above verses from our daily Bible reading today sound wonderfully similar to what I was talking about from Galatians last Sunday.  By faith, we can be adopted into His family and we can call Him, “Abba, Father.”
Speaking of fathers, this Sunday is our Father’s Day Breakfast from 8:30 — 10am.  There will be no Sunday School this week.  Please join us in honoring our fathers and enjoy a wonderful breakfast!
The morning message will be from Job 1:1-5, called “A Man of Integrity”.  Come and learn of the great example Job sets for us by his character and his actions.
Saturday morning is a work day from 9am — Noon.  All are welcome to come help spruce up the property!  There are plenty of weeds for everyone to share!
A couple other things I want to share with you today:
I was invited to a pastors appreciation lunch at Harvest House Publishers in Eugene.  It was a great lunch, time to meet some other pastors, and there was a guest speaker (Caleb Breakey – I knew he would be good… just check out his name!)  I just wanted to pass along to you how incredibly gracious and generous Harvest House was to us.  So if you are looking to buy some good inspiring Christian books, check out what they have to offer:  www.HarvestHousePublishers.com.  They have great stuff!  They blessed us pastors with 6 free books, and even a brand new ESV Inductive Study Bible (retail price $75!), along with a nice coffee mug and a great lunch from Mucho Gusto!
The guest speaker showed the following video to us.  It is powerful, and only about 4 minutes.  I thought it was so good, I sent it to my sister with a prayer that it will have an impact on her.  It may be something you can share with someone in your oikos!

Blessings on all the fathers this weekend!  (And on everybody else too!)
Love From Your Pastor,
Michael
