Love From Your Pastor

Hi FBC!

Our daily reading included a couple great verses about the Word of God:
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. (Ps. 119:105)
Every word of God proves true; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him. (Prov. 30:5)
Awesome truth!  Our goal is to equip God’s people to serve Him effectively.  The primary way we are equipped is through the Word of God.  This Sunday all ages will begin a new study in Sunday School, called “We Can Trust the Bible” by Answers in Genesis.  The adults will all meet together in the Worship Center for the beginning and Randy Waldie will be presenting the material.  Then we plan to break into smaller groups for some discussion questions.  You will be blessed to be a part of it!  The kids will be studying the same themes at age-appropriate levels.  This is a great oppotunity for the whole family to discuss together what is being learned in class!  I urge you to consider being here with your whole family at 9am on Sunday!

The sermon Sunday will be from Galatians 3:15-20.  It’s a short passage, but packed with wonderful truth.  We will see Paul’s comparison of the law and the promise of God.  Aren’t you glad God is the ultimate “Promise Keeper”?!
This is also Communion Sunday.  The daily reading also included a passage that reminds us of the significance of Christ’s blood being shed for us:
For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a heifer, sanctify for the purification of the flesh, how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God. (Heb. 9:13-14)
We also will be recognizing a number of graduates from various grade levels this Sunday.  Congrats Grads!!
I want to THANK ALL OF THE GREAT WORKERS for helping with the demolition of the old nursery annex this week!  We have seen amazing progress, and I am excited and grateful for all that has been accomplished.  Many hands have pitched in and many volunteer hours have been given.  Thank you!
I also want to THANK RICHARD AND DARLENE WHITE for dedicated behind the scenes service.  Talk about putting in volunteer hours!!  We are so blessed by all they have done for FBC in recent years.  They have impacted the worship ministry by serving in the audio/visual department, the setting up and taking down and arranging of chairs and tables throughout the buildings, the outside by organizing the “outside beautifiers” and the zones and by doing many hours of landscape work, and much more.  They have decided to step back for a time due to health and personal reasons.  I’d like us all to let them know how much we appreciate them.  Also, this is a good opportunity for others to “step up to the plate” and start to fill some very large shoes!  If God puts it on your heart to serve in some way that you are not currently involved in, let me or any of our leaders know.  There is much to do.
With much appreciation for all our dedicated servants,
Love From Your Pastor,
Michael
