“I gave my back to those who strike, and my cheeks to those who pull out the beard; I hid not my face from disgrace and spitting.” (Isaiah 50:6 ESV)
On Sunday our message will be from Isaiah 50, and is entitled, “I Gave My Back…” It’s a short but powerful chapter regarding how God’s Servant (who we know to be Jesus Christ) will save all who turn from self and listen to Him. Please read the passage prayerfully and ask the Lord to speak powerfully to our church family, and that we will listen to Him!
We will also be remembering the Lord’s death together by participating in Communion. Isaiah 50 will lead us perfectly into that time. Please come with humble and repentant hearts.
On March 1-3, Pioneer Christian Academy in Brownsville will be hosting a Creation Seminar put on by the Alpha Omega Institute. This looks like a great opportunity for learning about the importance of the biblical account of creation in Genesis. It is FREE (a love offering will be taken). More info is on the bulletin board by the church office, and was in your bulletin last Sunday. But if you think you may go, please contact Mike Kirk (541-990-0502) to let him know, as he’s been asked to inform the hosts so they can plan for the right amount of food!
Please remember that Monday, March 4 is the fundraiser for the youth Mexico mission trip at Papa’s Pizza in Corvallis. You must have one of the flyers with the info on it. Our youth will receive half of the price of what you purchase on that day! Questions, please contact Pastor Justin.
Also remember the Next Generation Mini-Conference here at FBC, March 8-9. This will be a wonderful time of equipping parents (and anyone interested in helping bring up children in the Lord). Sessions are Friday night and Saturday morning. Contact Pastor Justin for more details.
Lastly, around this time each year I begin to feel nostalgic. It was on March 1, 2011 that I began serving as Pastor here at FBC Brownsville. Eight years has flown by pretty fast! I’m so thankful for the Lord’s mercy in my life, and that He brought my family and I here to this church family and this community. Thank you for being so gracious to us for these past 8 years. I pray for many more years together exalting the Lord, equipping His people, and extending His invitation! May He use us to build a movement of disciples who make disciples who make disciples…
Love From Your Pastor,
Michael
