Love From Your Pastor

Hi FBC Friends!

Who has first given to Me, that I should repay him?  Whatever is under the whole heaven is Mine. (Job 41:11)
Our reading in Job this morning was God speaking to Job, and to Job’s “friends.”  This statement in 41:11 stuck out to me, because it is one of the points I want to make in the sermon Sunday.  I will be sharing the 2nd part of the message on Stewardship.  Last week we talked about using our time well, this week we will discuss how we use our money.  I did not include Job 41:11 in the message, but it closely relates to a verse I did include – Psalm 24:1, The earth is the LORD’s and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein.  Please be thinking about those two verses as you prepare your heart for Sunday morning.
A few important items to be aware of:

Tonight – AWANA is back in action!  Unfortunately Cubbies will NOT be starting tonight, as we need to finish preparing their room with furnishings and supplies.  But (Lord willing of course) we should be able to move ahead with Cubbies next Thursday.  For parents in the “Pointers 4 Parents” class, please come prepared to discuss chapter 2 in our book, and your list of what makes your child/children special!
Saturday – Men’s Breakfast at 7am!  Dennis Blevins from Navigators (our Roundup speaker) will be sharing with us.  Invite a friend and come join us!

Sunday – NURSERY NEWS:  Parents, thank you for remembering the slogan I learned while on tour in Israel, “Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not break!”  Our Occupancy Permit has taken a little longer to obtain than hoped, and we are working on some final details, furnishings, and supplies for the nursery… so it will not be available this Sunday.  Sorry!  But I’ve reminded myself, in the grand scheme of things, what’s a couple weeks?  We hope to have the nursery availabe for use next Sunday, Nov. 17.  Thank you for your patience.
Sunday School – Wondering which class is right for you?  We have children and youth classes based on age or grade.  For the adults, we currently have two options.  The class I facilitate is intended for parents of school-age or younger children.  So whether you’re a couple or a single, join us for a good discussion centered on the Bible, which often involves conversations about how to relate key truths to our kids.  If you’re in that same age group (20s, 30s, 40s) but don’t have kids, you are welcome to join us too!  For our more mature saints, those whose kids are no longer of school age, we recommend the adult class which meets in the worship center.  Randy Waldie is the teacher and they are currently studying the book of Romans.
Shoeboxes – Remember that your Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes are due THIS SUNDAY!  We will pray over them and dedicate them as we prepare to send them off.  Children in many various parts of the world will be blessed by these gifts!  Thank you for helping with this project.
Veterans – Make sure and thank a veteran for their service to our country!  Monday Nov. 11 is Veterans Day!
Membership Class – If you are interested in finding out more about membership at FBC, I will be doing a membership class from Noon to 3pm on Nov. 17.  Please RSVP by emailing me or talking to me on Sunday.  Lunch will be provided.
My Hope with Billy Graham – Please be in prayer for the people in your life who need to hear the good news of Jesus Christ.  If you missed the Sunday when we had brochures about this in the bulletin, you can pick one up from the table in the foyer by the office.  We will be doing a brief training for anyone considering being a “Matthew” – inviting people to your home to watch a 30min. DVD with testimonies and a message from Billy Graham – on Sunday, Nov. 24, at 12pm.  We will watch a 15 minute video and discuss for 5-10 minutes.  Everyone who is thinking about doing this can join us.  Please let me know if you’d like to be a “Matthew”.  Check out for more info:  www.myhopewithbillygraham.org.
Baptisms – We plan to baptize a few people on Sunday, Dec. 8, during the morning worship service.  If you are interested in being baptized please contact me.
THANK YOU AGAIN TO OUR BUILDING TEAM, OUR MANY VOLUNTEERS, AND OUR CHURCH FAMILY FOR ALL YOU’VE DONE TO HELP WITH THE COMPLETION OF OUR CLASSROOM ADDITION!  WE’RE ALMOST THERE!  I was thinking, maybe instead of calling it our Christian Education wing, we should call it the EQUIPPING CENTER… I don’t know, just a thought.
Love From Your Pastor,
Michael
