Love From Your Pastor

Hi FBC Friends!

Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me?  Hope in God; for I shall again praise Him, my salvation and my God. (Psalm 42:11)
What a great reminder today that no matter what may be trying to bring you down, you can hope in God!  It’s also a great reminder to praise Him, regardless of your circumstances.  We once again will have the opportunity to do that together this Sunday.  Hope to see you here!
This Sunday will be our last Sunday of the summer schedule, with the worship service at 9am and the Sunday School beginning at 10:45.  September 7th we will be returning to our usual schedule:  9am Sunday School, 10:30 Worship service.  Please mark it on your calendar and remember the time change, and pass along this announcement to others.
This Sunday I will be preaching part 2 of “EXTEND” in our E3 purpose series.  I will be in 2 Corinthians 4, speaking on “We Believe, So We Speak.”  Please read the passage ahead of time.  Prepare your heart and mind to hear from the Lord.  Do we really believe what we say we believe about our glorious, death-defying Lord Jesus Christ?  If we do believe, do we speak?  Important questions for us to consider!
With fall approaching, many classes, groups, and programs are getting started back up.  New Sunday School classes are available, beginning Sept. 7.  There will be an insert in the bulletin again this week about those. AWANA registration and carnival is Thursday, Sept. 11.  I will again have a class for parents, beginning Sept. 18 during Awana.  This year we will study “Grace-Based Parenting”.  September 13 we will start “G3” (Growing Godly Guys).  We will meet on Saturday evenings and work through the workbook, “Walking with Christ”.  If you expressed interest in the class, you can purchase and pick up your book from me.  I still have a couple spots, so if you’re interested, let me know!  Men’s Roundup is Sept. 5-7 at Camp Tadmor.  It’s not too late to register for that either – we will be camping together this year with tents and RV’s.  Talk to me, Jeff Stoneberg, or Ivan Stutzman if you want to be a part of a great weekend.  We will have another 4 Days of Prayer, Monday Sept. 8 – Thursday Sept. 11.  We will pray from 5am-9am and 5pm-9pm each day, with 15 min. breaks each hour.  Thursday will be only the morning prayer time, as we have Awana that night.  Please mark your calendar and plan to join us as we pray for the church, the fall ministries, the community, and our missionaries around the world.
Thank you for continuing to pray for God’s work here at FBC Brownsville!  Please continue to pray!  Let us be, in the words of Paul, as men (and women) of sincerity, as commissioned by God, in the sight of God we speak in Christ. (2 Cor. 2:17)

Michael
