Hello Friends!

I was reminded again this morning during my devotional time of the importance of guarding our hearts.  Proverbs 4:23 says, “Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.”  It is easy for us to get wrapped up in our outward performance and outward appearance.  But where it all starts is within.  Jesus said something about this as well in Mark 7:21-23 & Luke 6:45.  Those would be a couple of great verses to look at today!  The Lord wants our hearts to be fully devoted to Him.  He wants us to drink of His “Living Water”, so then we will overflow with “springs of life.”  Like the chorus says, “I’ve got a river of life flowing out of me…!”

This Sunday I am speaking on Hosea 5, with a message titled, “Sins of the Leadership.”  We will look at how ungodly leadership, whether secular or religious, draws people away from God.  This is an important message for us as leaders in the church, but also for everyone who is a part of the church.  This is an important message for us as parents and grandparents – what kind of leadership are we displaying in our families?  This is also important for us to consider when it comes to the leaders we elect in our cities, states, and the nation.  Some of you may have watched the presidential debate last night.  We have a little over a month until Election Day.  Now more than ever we need to be praying for godly leadership in our country, and we also need to be voting for candidates and measures which reflect our Biblical values.

The competition between guys and gals is heating up as we prepare for Trunk or Treat!  Men, we may have a chance this Sunday to get a leg up on the competition, as a large group of women will be away at Women’s Retreat!  So let’s fill the candy buckets as October 31 is quickly approaching.  Please sign up in the foyer if you plan to have your vehicle decorated for the event.  This year we plan to have an award for the best decorated vehicle!  This will be a great event to invite friends and neighbors to – and they won’t need to go anywhere else to get more candy – they’ll go away with plenty!

God bless you today as you keep your heart seeking after Christ.
