Love From Your Pastor

Hi again Friends,

I hope and pray that you’re having a good week and keeping your eyes fixed on our Lord Jesus Christ!
This morning I read a passage that I have been very thankful for for many years.  It is so easy to get down on yourself and start feeling inadequate for whatever task is before you.  Especially as a pastor, there have been countless times when I haven’t felt capable.  I have felt foolish, weak, and downright lowly!  Which is why I love the following verses:
For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; 28 God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, 29 so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. 30 And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, 31 so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 1:26-31)

May we rejoice in God’s calling of us today, and let us boast in the Lord!

I trust that you all are planning to come and participate in our Missions Conference April 26-28!  It will take place Friday night at 6pm, Saturday at 9am, and of course during Sunday School and the Worship Service.  So far we have 39 signed up for Friday and 31 for Saturday.  I’d love to see those numbers doubled!  So please sign up on the sheet in foyer (on the missions table) on or before this Sunday.  We anticipate this time being informative, uplifting, encouraging, and challenging.  This is an “all hands on deck” event for everyone in our church!
Please remember that this Sunday we will be having a potluck and 40th birthday party for Elizabeth after the Worship Service!  Cake and ice cream will be provided.  I am looking for a volunteer to help cut cake and for someone to scoop ice cream.  Let me know if that’s you!
This Sunday we continue our series in Galatians, “Set Free!” with a message on 2:1-10.  The message will be called “Not Running in Vain.”  I know some of you like running for exercise.  I’m not sure what’s wrong with you, but to each his own!  But I do like running if there is a purpose in it (chasing a ball, running the bases, running from angry bees, etc.)!  Paul had a purpose for “running the race” in his ministry.  Please read the passage and ask the Lord to teach us this Sunday.
Also remember this Friday at 7pm the Women’s Ministries is having a Container Gardening presentation here at the church.  And Saturday there is another work day scheduled from 9am-Noon.  Please join in if you can!
Let’s run with purpose this week and always!
Love From Your Pastor,
Michael
