Love From Your Pastor

Hi Friends of FBC!

Though it’s not a bright and sunny day today, I was reminded this morning of how great it was to have such a day last Sunday as we celebrated the resurrection of our Lord!  There were three verses that jumped out at me in the daily Bible reading, all relating to the theme of LIGHT.
Restore us, O LORD God of hosts! Let your face shine, that we may be saved! (Psalm 80:19 ESV)
But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day. (Proverbs 4:18 ESV)
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. (James 1:17 ESV)
In the springtime we look so forward to sunny days so we can enjoy being outside, playing ball, walking the dog, doing yard work, etc.  But for the believer, every day is a day in which we can “walk in the light as He is in the light,” regardless of the weather!!!

A few weeks ago I told you we would try to work together on some memory verses as we go through our study of Galatians.  (I sure hope you didn’t forget!)  Our verse for THIS SUNDAY is:
For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ. (Galatians 1:10 ESV)
Let’s work on this one and see if we can’t all say it together on Sunday!
I will be preaching on “No Other Gospel” from Galatians 1:6-10.  Paul takes the gospel very seriously… and so should we!  He gives stern warnings to those who would distort the gospel, as well as those who abandon the truth to follow false teachings.  Please read the passage and ask the Lord to work in our hearts through it.  Also, if you invited people from your OIKOS to visit last Sunday (and they did come), perhaps you’ll want to contact them again and remind them that we’ll be continuing our study in Galatians this Sunday, and they would benefit from returning to FBC!
Remember – there is a brief quarterly business meeting following the worship service this Sunday.  Then there is a potluck for Awana leaders (and anyone else who’d like to come), followed by an Awana leaders meeting.
Put on your calendar – April 26-28 – FBC Missions Conference!  This will take place Friday night, Saturday morning, and Sunday morning.  We’ll have a number of the missionaries we support here to share with us.  It should be a great time of learning, fellowship, and motivation to develop a Great Commission heart!  Don’t miss it!
Let us walk in the Light this week!
