Love From Your Pastor

“It is too light a thing that You should be My servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to bring back the preserved of Israel; I will make You as a light for the nations, that My salvation may reach to the end of the earth.” (Isaiah 49:6 ESV)

This Sunday’s message is from Isaiah 49, “A Light for the Nations.” We’ll see how the Servant of the Lord will EXTEND God’s salvation to the ends of the earth! Please prayerfully read Isaiah 49 prior to the worship service.

Please continue to bring items that can be distributed to people through ourencouragement baskets this week! Thank you!

Please consider joining me in Albany on February 23 for Sonlife’s 4-chair discipling seminar.  Click on the following link to register: DISCIPLING SEMINAR. If you are planning to go, please reply to this email to let me know!

Youth Mexico Trip Fundraiser – some of our high school youth are planning for the Spring Break mission trip to Mexico.  There will be an enchilada meal after the worship service on February 17th. Tickets will be available for purchase this Sunday. If you’d like to see if there are still donations needed for the ingredients, please contact Tina Kittel.  There is also going to be a dessert auction on the 17th, so plan to help with that as well!

Recommended Reading (These are books I’ve read recently that I highly recommend! A disciple is a learner. One of the best ways to learn is to read good books!) —

  1. Caldwell, What I Learned About God in My First 99 Years
  2. Dever, Discipling
  3. Emblen, Visiting Mrs. Morgan (We have 2 copies of this in FBC library, and I bought 6 copies myself. Borrow it and read it!)
  4. Hague, Aching Joy
  5. Spader, 4 Chair Discipling (I have a number of copies of this in my office; you can borrow or buy one from me!)
  6. Thomas, Strength for the Weary

Inclement Weather — we are hearing reports of a possible winter storm in our area this weekend. Being a native of the Willamette Valley, I usually say, “I’ll believe it when I see it!” But in case the weathermen are correct (I can say that since I’m the son of a weatherman!), please be prepared. If the roads seem to be treacherous, we’ll try to make a wise determination early Sunday morning about whether or not to cancel services. I hope we don’t have to of course. But please be wise, and stay safe. Even if we don’t cancel, if you are in doubt about the safety of traveling in to church, stay home and worship there! We will try to send out an email, and possibly make phone calls, if it’s necessary.

Love From Your Pastor,

Michael
