Love From Your Pastor

Hello FBC!

But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name. (John 20:31)

John tells us near the end of his gospel account that Jesus did many other signs besides what he had written.  Which is pretty amazing because John wrote about so many things that Jesus did and said!  But apparently there were many other things.  John affirms here that what he did write, he wrote for a purpose: so that his readers would believe that Jesus is the Christ (the Messiah), the Son of God, and that by believing they might have life in His name.  The gospel of John in the gospel of belief.  John is passionate that all people would believe the truth about who Jesus is and what Jesus said.  Do you believe?  Are you allowing that belief to transform how you live and think?

This Sunday we’ll be reminded about another key truth from John’s gospel: that God so loved the world that He gave His only Son (3:16).  We’ll be talking about how blessed it is for us to be givers.  But our ability to be givers only manifests itself because of the greatest Giver of all – God Himself!

Our memory verse for this Sunday is Acts 20:35 — In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how He Himself said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”  Please work on this and be ready to say it together Sunday!

We will be remembering the Lord’s death together during our remembrance of the Lord’s Supper this Sunday as well.  The Communion Care Fund box will be out, please consider a generous gift to help us support those going through financial challenges.

On Monday, June 5, we will be participating in Baccalaureate at Central Linn High School.  Everyone is invited to come and support the graduating seniors during this Christian ceremony.  We’d also like to encourage everyone to consider donating a dessert for this event.  We’d like to really bless these graduates (which include Molly Beach, Ethan Whitted, Tobias Rhoades, and Lexi Moore).  One way will be by giving them a gift.  Another way will be by sharing some great dessert with them!  Thanks for helping if you can!

Hard to believe, but another Beach birthday is happening tomorrow.  Micah is turning 14!  Wow – he was only 8 when we moved here to Brownsville.  He’s becoming a young man now before your eyes.  Thank you to everyone in this church that has had a spiritual influence on him these last 6 years.  Please say a prayer asking the Lord to help Micah to continue to grow to “do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly” with his God (Micah 6:8)!

Peace be with you!
