Happy Veterans Day FBC!

Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for the sake of the faith of God’s elect and their knowledge of the truth, which accords with godliness, in hope of eternal life, which God, who never lies, promised before the ages began and at the proper time manifested in His word through the preaching with which I have been entrusted by the command of God our Savior; To Titus, my true child in a common faith: Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.
 (Titus 1:1-4)

Now that’s how to begin a letter!  Paul’s letters are packed with valuable truth from beginning to end, aren’t they?

Speaking of Paul’s letters, we continue our study in Colossians this Sunday with a message from Col. 2:8-15, “Made Alive with Christ”. Talk about packed with truth!  We’ll discuss again how all-sufficient, all-powerful, and all-important Jesus Christ is.  The foundation of our faith and of our lives needs to be our understanding of just who He is.  Please read ahead and be sure to join us Sunday!

Also this Sunday, Debbie Tracey from Pregnancy Alternative Center in Lebanon will be sharing with us during the morning service.
And she’s got exciting news regarding the mobile unit which we contributed towards through our annual Missions Special Offering last year!  We may even have a chance to see it up close and walk through it!  You won’t want to miss that.
And speaking of our annual Missions Special Offering… that’s coming November 20!  Please be in prayer, and consider a generous gift to this offering.  This year our money will go towards 1) scholarships for
short term missions, 2) Haiti Foundation of Hope, and 3) Beth Arends with ministry
to International students at OSU.  These are all very worthy causes and in need of our support!  I love what we read yesterday in 1 Chronicles:
Then the people rejoiced because they had given willingly, for with a whole heart they had offered freely to the LORD. David the king also rejoiced greatly.
 (29:9).

This Special Offering is in conjunction with FBC’s anniversary, which is officially November 16, so Happy Anniversary FBC!  We were established in 1853, so do the math!  FBC is older than the state of Oregon!  (Were any of you here for the founding of the church?) 🙂

Please be praying today and tomorrow for the 11 high school students and 4 leaders who are attending the Northwest Youth Conference in Portland!
May it be a very powerful time in their spiritual lives!

“Grace be with you all.”
