Love From Your Pastor

Hi FBC!

The LORD passed before him and proclaimed, “The LORD, the LORD, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and the children’s children, to the third and the fourth generation.”
 (Exodus 34:6-7)
This was a great reminder for me this morning of who God is!  Who better to tell us what God is like than God Himself?  After telling Moses of His covenant name, Yahweh (the LORD, lit., ‘I am who I am’), He describes Himself: Merciful.  Gracious.  Slow to anger.  Abounding in steadfast love (‘
chesed,’
loyal, faithful, covenant-keeping love).  Forgiving iniquity.  By no means clearing the guilty.  He is the ever-existing, gracious, loving, faithful, and just God of Creation!  To quote a recent song, “You’re a good, good Father!”
This Sunday will be our next-to-last message from Paul’s letter to Titus.  We are covering (Lord willing) Titus 3:1-11, “Goodness & Loving Kindness.”  Once again, this is a tremendous passage of Scripture.  I hope you will read it prior to the Sunday worship service and come prepared to ‘have ears to hear’ the Word of the Lord.
As I mentioned yesterday, thank you for praying for the Miller family.  We are now missing an incredible man.  But we are rejoicing that he is “absent from the body, and present with the Lord”!  I’ve just confirmed that the graveside service will take place on Tuesday, March 1, at 11:00am at Alford Cemetery in Halsey, and the Memorial Celebration of Life will be the same day at 1:00pm at FBC.  There may be more details to come regarding possible food afterward.
That same night, March 1, at 6pm, we are having a time of corporate prayer to seek the Lord’s will together regarding the large financial gift that was given to FBC.  Please make every effort to come join us in prayer.
Please continue to remember Mike Kirk and Dave Ezell in prayer, as they will be returning from Haiti late this Sunday, and also Roger and Susan Ruckert as they prepare to leave for Haiti on March 3.
March 3-6 Justin and Lynsey Hostetter (Family Pastor applicant and his wife) will be visiting the Brownsville area and various events at FBC.  Thank you for your prayers regarding this as well!
March 6 is the beginning of the new Sunday School class for adults, using the material “Christian History Made Easy.”  Please be sure to obtain your book and study material this Sunday so you can be prepared come March 6!
May the LORD’s mercy, grace, and peace be yours in abundance today and always!
Love From Your Pastor,
Michael
