Love From Your Pastor

Greetings FBC!

“I will deliver you out of the hand of the wicked, and redeem you from the grasp of the ruthless.”
 (Jeremiah 15:21)
I love that our God is a DELIVERER and a REDEEMER!  But interestingly, this promise from the Lord to Jeremiah came as part of an admonition to repent.  I liked what Paul House says:
“Did Jeremiah want to keep standing with God?  If so, he had to repent.  Happily, Jeremiah did repent.  His willingness to hear God’s Word and change his ways set an example for all God’s servants, including His best, such as Peter (John 21:15-19) and John (1 John 1:9-10).  Daily repentance is part of walking with God.  It provides a bridge from self-service to renewed service of the living God.” (ESV Men’s Devotional Bible)
So let’s walk with our Deliverer and Redeemer in daily repentance!
A few important notes:
1. Justin & Lynsey Hostetter will be here tonight through Monday morning.  Justin is an applicant for our Associate Pastor of Family Ministry position.  He is the one who the Search Team has felt led to pursue above the other applicants.  They are here to get to know our church and our area a bit.  Please be in prayer for the Lord’s will to be done for our church and for them.
2. Resurrection Sunday (a.k.a. Easter) is only 24 days away!  Whom from your “oikos” (group of people God has placed in your life) do you need to be praying for and looking for opportunities to invite to FBC?
3. Roger and Susan Ruckert are heading out for their mission trip to Haiti tonight.  There are prayer guides for them in the foyer.  Please uphold them in prayer as they travel and as they minister!
4. This Sunday the “Christian History Made Easy” Sunday School class begins for adults.  Make sure to be a part of it and learn how our “family history” impacts our Christian lives today!
5. We will finish our series in Titus this Sunday, with a message from 3:12-15, “Do Your Best.”  I’d encourage you to meditate on the passage and come prepared Sunday.  I love to hear from a number of you who tell me you read the passage before you come to the worship service!  Especially notice how Paul ends the letter (like most of his letters).  How do you end most of your letters or emails?  We will also share in remembrance of our Redeemer’s death as we partake of Communion together.  Please be sure to join us.
Let’s thank God today for Jesus Christ, our Deliverer and Redeemer!
“Grace be with you all.”
Love From Your Pastor,
Michael
