For while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come (1 Timothy 4:8).
I’ve been thinking about my goals for 2013. Many of them are things I plan to do in the next year. Like a lot of people, a few of them have to do with physical things, such as diet and exercise. But Paul was sure to remind Timothy that while there is some good in training physically, there is much more value in training spiritually! What are your goals for 2013? It’s o.k. to have some physically-focused ones. But have you thought about your spiritual goals? Prayer? Bible reading? Service in the church? Fasting? Reading Christian books? May the coming year see us all growing in godliness!
This Sunday is the children’s Christmas program, “The Good News Flash”. Oh, how the world is in need of some good news today! Please continue in prayer for the kids, the adults working with them, the details of the program, and the impact it will have on people in attendance. We are anticipating quite a crowd Sunday (it is usually the case when we have those cute little ones on stage). So I want to ask you “regulars” if you would be extra attentive to our “guests” who will be here. You may even consider giving up “your seat” so that a new family can sit together. Let’s do the best we can to make people who are not normally here at FBC feel welcome. Thank you!
Men, don’t forget that Saturday is our monthly Men’s Breakfast at 7:00am! It will surely once again be outstanding food and a great time being together as men of God. There will be a presentation by the Gideons for us, different than what they did during the worship service. They will be sharing in more detail about the ministry and how you could possibly get involved with them.
