Love From Your Pastor

And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. (Joshua 24:15 ESV)

Sunday is Father’s Day! We will have our regular schedule: Sunday School at 9am & Worship Service at 10:30. Join us as we worship our heavenly Father and honor our earthly fathers! I will be speaking on Joshua 24. The 15th verse (see above) is pretty familiar, and makes for a nice statement to hang on your wall. But I plan to explain the context in which that verse is found so we can have a clear understanding of what Joshua was saying to the people. Please read Joshua 24 prior to the Sunday service and join us at 10:30am! And Dads, there may just be a special treat for you on Sunday…

Worship will be led by special guests Nate & Liz Dunn of Melody & Truth. You can learn a little more about them here: MELODY & TRUTH  Nate & Liz are the former worship directors at FBC Salem. They have led worship at CB Northwest’s Annual Conference a number of times. I’ve personally been able to spend a little time with them and I really appreciate their hearts for ministry. They love the Lord, love to worship Him, and love to help others do the same. They infuse their worship times with Scripture, and they are great at combining the music (Melody) with the Bible (Truth). They even led worship at the camp for missionaries in Alaska that Justin helps at!

Men – This Saturday is once again our Men’s Breakfast at 8am. I heard something about chicken-fried steak! Randy asked me to pass along that they could use some help in the kitchen this month, so if you are able to help, please arrive around 7am. Thank you!

June 23rd is the Community Church Service at Pioneer Park, as a part of the Pioneer Picnic! We will not have anything at FBC that morning, we want to encourage everyone to join us at the park pavilion for this special combined service with other Christian churches in our area. I will be one of 3 local pastors preaching from John 17, and our Brownsville Gospel Choir will be singing, as well as a number of other participants. That service is 10am to 11:30. The “hospitality” (a.k.a. cinnamon rolls, donuts, coffee, etc.!) will begin at 9:15am, so come early and enjoy some fellowship with other Christians from our community! I also recommend that some of you bring your own lawn chairs, because last year there was a pretty good crowd, and I think it was standing room only by the end.  Hope you can all be there!

Love From Your Pastor,

Michael
