Love From Your Pastor

Hello FBC,

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. (Galatians 6:9)

Do you ever find yourself weary?  The above verse includes both a command and a promise.  The command – Don’t grow weary… Don’t give up!  The promise – We will reap (bring in a harvest) in due time (in God’s perfect time)!

Many of you have asked how Molly is doing in Mexico.  She is having a great (and challenging) experience so far.  She recently started a “blog”, writing her thoughts about her experience.  You can check it out (and subscribe to it if you want) here:  https://mollyelizabethbeach.wordpress.com/2017/09/18/lost/

Also, if anyone wants to send her an encouraging note or card (her birthday is Oct. 23!), or any financial support for Andy & Monica Alvarez, the missionaries she’s staying with, here is the mailing address:

Trunk-or-Treat is a little over a month away!  Elizabeth would still love help with the organizing, so if you can help her, please contact her – 541-979-1774.  Start stocking up on individually wrapped candy and planning how you are going to decorate your vehicle!

Sunday after the worship service there is a light lunch and kick off for the Pray 4 Me Campaign.  If you would like to have your family and/or child(ren) prayed for, there is a sign up sheet in the foyer.  You can also sign up if you would like to commit to being a Pray-er for a child or family.  Thank you to the Trimbles for organizing this for us again!

Sunday I am beginning a 5-part series on the “5 SOLAS” in commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation.  This Sunday is “SOLA SCRIPTURA: God’s Word Alone” which is about the authority of Scripture.  “Let the man who would hear God speak, read Holy Scriptures” (Martin Luther).  We will be examing four key points about how God speaks through the Bible, and of course looking at a number of Bible verses and passages.  But if you want to read ahead of time and “chew on” a few things in preparation, I’d suggest the following:  2 Peter 1:20-21; John 17:17; Psalm 119:105; 2 Timothy 3:16-17.  See you Sunday!

Also remember that tonight is the baby shower for Myriah Lemerande, here at FBC at 6:30pm.

And the Open House at the FBC Fellowship Hall for Sharon Bagley (celebrating her educational accomplishment!) is tomorrow (Saturday) from 2:00 — 4:00pm!

God’s grace and peace be with you all!

Love From Your Pastor,

Michael
